FAQs

We're here to answer all your questions. Check out the FAQs below and download our Reunion 2018 one-page explainer

I'm a local alum and I'd like to join the fun this weekend, can I attend individual events?

Yes, seminars are actually free and open to the public, so is our Saturday afternoon Kids Carnival. Tours are not open to the public. Any activities with food and drink require registration. You can register for individual events here

Why change how reunions are setup?

This change means a better experience for you. The current reunion setup doesn't offer as much time or a chance to fully explore campus. Our first-ever reunion weekend will allow you to connect with campus, other Hokies, and remember what makes Virginia Tech special.

Will this be more expensive?

No. Part of what makes a reunion weekend so great is that it's a more affordable option. Lodging prices will be lower.

I see the reunion costs $175, what does that include?

That cost includes the entire program, including lunch on Friday and Saturday, dinner on Friday and Saturday, Carol Lee donuts and coffee on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday.

The only additional charge will be the Ben Folds performance at the Moss Arts Center on Friday night. There is a discount for reunion participants for that performance.

The reunion is for 3s and 8s, but is anyone welcome?

The reunion is primarily for alumni and their families who are celebrating 5th through 45th anniversaries (in five-year increments) so alums who graduated in 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013.

There's a focus on these classes and we'll have special activities to celebrate them, but all Hokies are welcome. We're looking forward to this being one of our largest gatherings ever.

Does this affect Homecoming or the 50th Reunion? What about specialty reunions and college tailgates?

No, the new reunion weekend will not affect Homecoming or the 50th Reunion, which will still occur on that fall weekend. Specialty reunions and college tailgates will still take place as usual.

Should I bring my family?

Yes, we'll have plenty of family friendly options and childcare will be available at select times. Bring your kids and your significant other and show them what it means to be a Hokie.

Where can I stay?

Check here for specific lodging information. There are plenty of hotel options, or you can stay in a residence hall.

What's planned?

We'll have tours of campus facilities, campus experts as speakers, time to network and mingle, plus more. Check our schedule of events

Can I bring my RV?

Of course! We have plenty of space and parking will be free, but the university has a couple of requirements.

Visitor parking permits must be displayed in RVs during permit enforcement hours, which are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The RVs must be parked in the Duck Pond Overflow Lot. This is the normal university parking area for RVs. If demand exceeds the capacity of this lot, Parking Services will, on an ad hoc basis, approve a secondary parking area for the RVs, which will likely be the Duck Pond Drive Lot known as the Cage.

How can I get involved?

Glad you asked! We're looking for volunteers to help during Reunion 2018. Plus, we're always looking for feedback. We want to hear from you. Send us a note.
