May 22 - 24, 2013

See who is attending in 2013!

Members of the Old Guard,

On behalf of the Old Guard Advisory Board, I am pleased to extend a warm invitation to you to join in the 2013 Old Guard Reunion to be held Thursday, May 23 through mid-morning on Friday, May 24. We extend a special welcome to the newest members of the Old Guard, the Class of ’62, who celebrated their 50th Reunion last fall! We especially welcome the Classes of ’43, ’48, ’53, and ’58, who will gather for their traditional five-year anniversary dinners on Wednesday, May 22.

For those who are not members of the four classes celebrating special anniversaries,
but who plan to arrive Wednesday, dinner on your own will be available at The Inn at Virginia Tech in Preston’s Restaurant on Wednesday evening (reservations are encouraged – 540-231-0130). Additionally, we can make arrangements for golf on Wednesday at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech, with tee times starting at 10:30 AM. You may sign up for golf on the registration form.

Come and join those with whom you shared your days at Tech, and, as always, the Old Guard Reunion will provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about some of the fascinating things happening at our Alma Mater. This year will be no different, as we hear from and meet some of Tech’s impressive faculty, staff, and students. Our members will receive plenty of attention as we learn about Virginia Tech’s most recent accomplishments, all while having ample time to reminisce with friends in the Holtzman Alumni Center’s Grand Hall.

The highlights of our 2013 Reunion include:

•Presentation by Cynda A. Johnson, Founding Dean and President of Virginia Tech
Carilion Medical School

•Tour and presentation at Kelly Hall, which includes the Virginia Tech - Wake Forest School of Biomedical Engineering

•Lunch at the newest dining facility – Turner Place at Lavery Hall

•Presentations from representatives and students in Athletics, Study Abroad, and the Corps of Cadets

• Special guest President Charles W. Steger joins our Thursday Banquet

The Alumni Association has made all the arrangements for our festivities. We will be able to reserve lodging at the Inn at Virginia Tech, and I am assured that parking will be plentiful. Please invite your friends and classmates to make plans to join you on campus this May! The Alumni Association can help if you need any addresses or telephone numbers.

If you have any questions, please contact Gilda Machin-Scarpaci, Special Events Planner, at gmachins@vt.edu or by telephone at 540-231-6285.

In the spirit of Ut Prosim,

T.O. Williams III '59
President of the Old Guard
