Inclusive Alumni Communities at Homecoming
Begin Homecoming Weekend on Friday with Virginia Tech's inclusive alumni communities for a day of events for students and alumni in collaboration with our Cultural and Community Centers. These events are free to attend, though registration is encouraged. Registrants will have the option to make a gift to support the centers.
Plus, join us at Alumni Mall for the Homecoming Parade Watch Party, and pick up your special swag item just for our inclusive alumni communities. Registration is $10 and children 12 and under attend for free.
On Saturday, kick off game day at the Holtzman Alumni Center with the Homecoming Tailgate. We'll have food, drinks, games, music, and colleges and groups represented from across campus. Make sure to join us at the Inclusive Alumni tent to meet members of our communities, grab some swag, and learn more about how you can get involved! Admission to the tailgate is $15 in advance and $20 day of.
Inclusive alumni events in collaboration with Cultural and Community Centers
Friday, Oct. 25
- When: Friday, Oct. 25 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Where: El Centro and Brush Mountain A, Squires Student Center third floor
- About: Students and alums are invited to celebrate culture and be in community with the Latinx and Hispanic Alumni Society for lunch in El Centro! This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.
- When: Friday, Oct. 25 from 1-3 p.m.
- Where: Black Cultural Center, Squires Student Center first floor
- About: Students and alumni are invited to break bread and be in community together in the Black Cultural Center to kick off Homecoming Weekend! This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.
- When: Friday, Oct. 25 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
- Where: APIDA + Center, Squires Student Center first floor
- About: Sip and spill the “tea” with APIDAS during Homecoming! Students and alumni are invited to gather in the APIDA + Center to be in "communi-tea" while enjoying boba, chai, hot tea, and a variety of tea-time refreshments. This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.

- Where: Pride Center, Squires Student Center second floor
- About: Let’s celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with Ex Lapide, Virginia Tech’s LGBTQIA+ alum and ally society! Lots of pizza and pride are on the menu! This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.
- When: Friday, Oct. 25 from 3 - 5 p.m.
- Where: Perspective Gallery, Squires Student Center second floor; Ati: Wa:oki Indigenous Community Center, Squires Student Center first floor
- About: Join us to explore Wild Relatives, a captivating photography exhibit by Indigenous alumna Chrissy Shammas ’18, showcasing wildlife from Yellowstone. Shammas will discuss her travels and the inspiration behind her work during a talk at 3:30 p.m. in the Perspective Gallery. Following the talk, you’re invited to a dessert reception hosted by the Native and Indigenous Alumni Society (NIAS) at the Ati: Wa:oki Indigenous Community Center at 4 p.m. This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.

- About: Join us to watch the Homecoming parade. There will be a special swag item just for inclusive alumni communities.
Saturday, Oct. 26

- Where: Holtzman Alumni Center
- About: Have fun before the game at our annual tailgate with a special tent and swag just for inclusive alumni communities.
Sunday, Oct. 27
- When: Sunday, Oct. 27; 10-11:30 a.m.
- Where: Corps Leadership and Military Science Building
- About: Join us to honor Lindsay Cherry ’58, one of Virginia Tech’s first Black students, as we accept the gifts of his class ring and saber. These gifts will be permanently displayed in the Black Cultural Center. A reception will follow a brief program acknowledging Cherry’s legacy and contributions. This event is free to attend, though registration is encouraged.
