The Alumni Weekend 2024 schedule outline is below. More details will be added.

Registration includes access to all scheduled events, including tours and sessions, plus meals, happy hours, and drinks!  When you sign up, the weekend is all inclusive. We’ll handle the fun, food, and more.

Attire for the weekend is Hokie Casual.

Thursday, June 6

  • 8:30-10 a.m. Cornerstone and 50th breakfast with colleges (Squires, Commonwealth Ballroom)
  • 10:15-11 a.m. Speaker Session (TBD)
  • 11:15 a.m.-noon. Speaker Session and Tour (TBD)
  • 12:30-1:45 p.m. Cornerstone and 50th lunch with speaker (Squires, Commonwealth Ballroom)
  • 2-4 p.m. Tours, sessions, and experiences (TBD)
  • 6-10 p.m. Cornerstone Alumni and 50th Reunion Induction Banquet, semi-formal attire (Squires, Commonwealth Ballroom)
  • Virginia Tech Disc Golf Course. Looking for a scorecard? Stop by the Virginia Tech Golf Course Pro Shop to pick one up and to learn more.
  • Hike the Cascades (paid parking)
  • Bike Rentals at Venture Out (fees apply, available 2-6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday) (Venture Out, 540 Beamer Way)
  • Golf at the Virginia Tech Golf Course (green fees apply)
  • Tube down the New River (tube fees apply)
  • Stop by the Bookstore
  • Explore Blacksburg
  • 5-7 p.m. Summer Gallery Opening Reception (Moss Arts Center)

Friday, June 7

  • 8:30-9:30 a.m. Continental breakfast (Holtzman Alumni Center)

  • 9:30-10:15 a.m. National Academy of Science Member Discussion with Bob Bodnar, Trish Dove, and Shuhai Xiao.
  • 9:30-10:15 a.m. "AI-Accessibility: Challenges and Opportunities for Inclusive Design Technologies" - Blind Design Workshop and Research.
  • 10:30-11:15 a.m. Frith First-Year Makerspace: Celebrating 25 Years
  • 10:30-11:15 a.m. Walking Tree Tour with University Arborist Jamie King

  • 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Lunch at on-campus dining hall (D2 at Dietrick Hall)
  • 1:30-3 p.m. School of Design Open House (Cowgill Hall)

  • 3-6 p.m. Taste of Virginia Food, Wine, and Beer Festival. Featuring food and drink from across the commonwealth. (Holtzman Alumni Center)
    • Including Kids' activities, Bug Zoo, and science experiments         
  • 6-8 p.m. Class of 1974 50th Reunion Celebration
  • 6-8 p.m. Young Alumni Happy Hour at Sharkey's

  • 8 p.m.-midnight. Downtown Takeover. Enjoy some of Blacksburg's hit watering holes with included appetizers.

Saturday, June 8

  • 8-10 a.m. Coffee and Culture. Continental breakfast with opportunity to visit our Cultural and Community Centers and engage with staff and students who have found a sense of community and belonging in these spaces. (Squires)
  • 9-9:30 a.m. Class of 1974 and Cornerstone Alumni Remembrance Service (War Memorial Chapel)
  • 9-9:30 a.m. Informal remembrance opportunity for all alumni (April 16 Memorial, Drillfield)
  • 11-11:45 a.m. Town Hall with President Sands (Moss Arts Center)
  • College of Engineering (Goodwin Hall)
  • College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
  • College of Science

  • 3-5 p.m. Kids' Carnival hosted by Rec Sports. Bringing your little Hokies to Alumni Weekend? Make sure to stop by the Kids' Carnival and play some fun, interactive games for ages 3-16. (Eggleston Quad)
  • 4-6 p.m. Class happy hours (Eggleston Quad)
  • 6:30-11:30 p.m. Party and dinner on the Drillfield with band and fireworks
