Richmond Chapter Student Scholarship

Dear Future Hokie,

As president of the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, I am writing personally to emphasize the countless opportunities you could have as a student and graduate of Virginia Tech. Hokies are extremely loyal and can be great networking channels. In fact, there are approximately 15,000 Hokie alumni living and working in the Richmond area, which makes us the second largest Virginia Tech alumni chapter in the world. We are an extremely active chapter that hosts many activities and provides opportunities for Virginia Tech graduates to give back to the university as well as the Richmond area through volunteerism and community service.

At the beginning of the summer we will host a celebration picnic for the entire incoming first-year class from the Richmond area. Please be aware we will send out invitations by email at a later date for you and your family. On behalf of our Virginia Tech alumni chapter, I hope each of you will join us.

I also want to inform you that our alumni chapter will award multiple scholarships to high school seniors and college transfer students from the Richmond area enrolling at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2024. Selections will be based on essay responses, academic achievement, financial need, extracurricular involvement, and community service.

Please submit your application to the scholarship committee no later than Jan. 1.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at president@richmondhokies.org or our chapter’s scholarship committee at scholarships@richmondhokies.org. I wish you the best of luck with your senior year and hope to welcome you as a member of the Virginia Tech Class of 2028!

Sincerely,

Steve Smith
President, Richmond Alumni Chapter
