Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai
Join fellow Virginia Tech alumni, students, friends, and family for our Hokies in the Middle East networking event.
Participants will have an opportunity to meet and cheer on Virginia Tech’s FutureHAUS team, the only U.S. team competing in Dubai’s Solar Decathlon. University representatives will be on hand to provide an update on the latest exciting developments from Blacksburg.
Participants will also be able to connect with fellow Hokies, expand business contacts, and discuss industry trends in Dubai, the “City of Gold.” Enjoy complimentary canapes and get a chance to win some Virginia Tech gear!
Go inside the future
On Saturday, Nov. 17, you can take part in an exclusive tour of FutureHAUS. A complimentary coach will depart the Jumeirah Emirates Towers at 9 a.m. The Solar Decathlon site is about an hour's drive. Sign up for the tour when you register.
From Nov. 14-29, Virginia Tech will compete in the Solar Decathlon Middle East, an intercollegiate global competition to build the world’s best solar home. Virginia Tech is the only U.S.-based team in a competitive pool of 21 universities worldwide. The university's team won the Solar Decathlon Europe in 2010 with LumenHAUS.
With FutureHAUS Dubai, Virginia Tech builds on 16 years of faculty-student research in solar home design, modular construction, and smart home technology. We aim to create a solar home that shows the power of research, the importance of collaboration, and that serves as a model of design, efficiency, and affordability for Dubai and for future homes worldwide.
