Palmetto Chapter Hubert P. Barnes Memorial Student Scholarship

Dear prospective Virginia Tech student,

On behalf of the Palmetto Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, we would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to Virginia Tech. Should you decide to attend Virginia Tech, your education, friends, and experiences will be something that you will cherish and carry with you for a lifetime. You will find countless opportunities to learn and be challenged both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage you to actively participate and strive for greatness.

The Palmetto Chapter awards a $1,000 scholarship named in honor of one of our distinguished members, Hubert Barnes, Class of 1950. Hubert gave to his community, the Upstate of South Carolina, and back to Virginia Tech through his service to the local alumni chapter. All graduating seniors from the Upstate of South Carolina and Western North Carolina who choose to attend Virginia Tech will be eligible for this scholarship. Recipients of the scholarship are selected based on academic merit and community service. Deadline for submission is Jan. 1.
