The National Capital Region Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association welcomes all students, alumni, family, and friends to join us for our annual Hokie Picnic at the Wolf Trap National Park on Saturday, July 8 from 2 p.m. -  5:30 p.m. 

Join us to network, enjoy great food, and play fun games. The picnic is free; however, please register below to ensure appropriate accommodations. Children and pets are allowed and parking is free. The Corps of Cadets Canine Ambassador, Growley II will be in attendance!

Free food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Guests are welcomed to BYOB. Drinks may also be purchased at Ovations Restaurant and enjoyed at the picnic. The restaurant is within arms reach of the picnic area.

  • Follow GPS or mapped directions to 1551 Trap Road, Vienna, VA (By the Filene Center).
  • Park at the parking lot that is at the main entrance off of Trap road.
  • If you are coming from Route 7, take the first left into the first parking lot.
  • If coming from Vienna, please take the 2nd right into the parking lot.
  • Due to the evening event, please do not park in any of the other lots or at the top of the hill.
  • Once parked, walk up the paved hill towards the Feline Center & Ovations Restaurant. Our picnic area is located between the two buildings. 

If the event is postponed due to rain,
we will hold the picnic on July 22.

Join the Peninsula Hokies for a picnic, lawn games, and summer outdoor fun as we celebrate our area freshmen that are headed off to Virginia Tech this fall. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow Hokies and provide a warm sendoff to students from the area.

This event is a potluck style picnic, so bring your favorite dish, dessert, or an appetizer to share. Iced tea and water will be provided and the brewery will be open to purchase beer. You may bring other nonalcoholic beverages; no outside alcoholic beverages are allowed on the property. Lawn chairs, games, and Hokie tailgate gear are appreciated.

There is parking at the brewery, in the adjacent lot, and across the street. Look for the orange and maroon balloons!

2017 Freshman Send-off and Alumni pot-luck picnic.

Come meet fellow Virginia Tech Alumni and welcome new students and their families to the Hokie Nation. The chapter will be recognizing the 2017 Scholarship Award winners, welcome incoming students and annouce upcoming events. Play corn-hole, volleyball, and other games. The little ones can enjoy the playground and kid games.

Raffles including a signed Justin Fuente mini helmet, an engraved memorial garden brick and more!

The local alumni in Charleston look forward to getting together with you to share in the excitement of returning to Blacksburg, and sending you off for another great school year! Charlotte annual Summer Service Project and Picnic

As we have done in the past, we’ll provide an opportunity to give back to the community in the morning of July 29. Stay tuned for more information on the projects as the event nears.  Additionally, we have confirmed Frank Shushok as a speaker.

Denver Chapter Summer and Scholarship Picnic

Come out and celebrate summer with the Denver Hokies Alumni!  We’ll eat well, play games in the park, and celebrate our student scholarship winners as they get ready to leave for Blacksburg! This lush picnic area includes a covered gazebo, picnic tables, grill, and plenty of green grass to explore. It’s a perfect scene for families, young children, and four legged friends. We’ll bring corn hole, giant jenga, and other lawn games. We encourage you to bring your own park games as well, along with blankets and chairs to accommodate your crew.

The Orange County Hokies Student Send-Off:  Beach Bonfire and BBQ.

The Orange County Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association is hosting a Beach Bonfire and BBQ to acquaint current students and families from the OC with our local support group and that there is an active group of Hokie alumni they can join pre and post-graduation.

Come help us provide a proper send-off to the next generation of Hokies. There are over 50 students from the OC currently enrolled. Let's show them the power of the Hokie Nation!

The 2017 Palmetto Scholarship winner will be announced and introduced. The annual cornhole tournament will be contested, along with other games. We are taking advantage of beautiful Schenley Park to meet up, enjoy some great food, and mingle with our newest Hokies before they head down to Blacksburg for the fall. We will also be honoring the Pittsburgh-area recipient of the chapter scholarship.

The chapter will provide food along with plates, napkins, and utensils. Look for us on the front/side edge of Flagstaff Hill in Oakland, on the CMU Campus side. We will have a tent and some orange and maroon colors flying. Bring a dessert to share as well as blankets/chairs for seating! Don't forget to wear your orange and maroon!

You're invited to the annual student send-off picnic for the newest Hokies heading to Blacksburg this fall!

The chapter will provide barbecue and drinks (tea and lemonade), but ask that guests bring a side or a dessert. Please join us for a fun evening with the Triangle Hokies as we send off the new students in style.

You and your family are invited to attend a summer picnic hosted by the Virginia Tech Alumni Association's Vandalia Chapter. Join us for food, games, networking, and some sun! The event will be hosted at Shelter #1 in St Albans City Park ( which is conveniently located next to a small play place for the kids.

The Vandalia Chapter will be providing the hamburgers, hots dogs, drinks, plates, and utensils. Please volunteer to bring a side dish or dessert to share via the "What to Bring" link at the bottom of the invite. Feel free to sign-up for a prepopulated item or add your own.

Our featured speaker will be Eustance Frederick, III of who will give us the scoop on the coming football and basketball seasons. To add to the fun, we will be raffling off a football signed by Coach Fuente himself! Tickets for the raffle will be $5 and can be bought at the event.
