What is Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT)?
STAT is a leadership team within the Student Alumni Associates. STAT was formed to engage and enhance the student experience by providing opportunities that strengthen their lifelong loyalty to Virginia Tech. STAT will create awareness of the services that the Virginia Tech Alumni Association offers students and young alumni.
What does STAT do?
STAT will develop a means of interaction among students, young alumni, faculty, and the community.
- Educate students and young alumni on the services offered by the Alumni Association through presentations, information booths, etc.
- Professional development seminars/workshops for students and young alumni
- Help sustain social networking groups
- Create and manage programs to support STAT
- Develop and implement programs to area chapters and encourage their involvement with undergraduate students with the goal of securing a connection with the Alumni Association
STAT has created and/or supports the following programs:
- SAA Speaker Series
- Seniors Movin’ On
- Hokie Nation Network – Virginia Tech’s exclusive online social networking site (coming soon)!
- Marketing plan to educate students about the services and events provided by the Alumni Association
- Chapter Scholarship Mentoring Program
Who can join?
Any member of the Student Alumni Associates (SAA) can get involved with STAT. Student representatives from other student organizations will also be encouraged to participate in STAT.
What’s in it for me?
Joining STAT is a great way to earn your SAA sign-up points, but more importantly a great way to learn leadership, networking, and organizational skills. You will make connections with faculty, students, alumni and corporations that you can take with you forever. And what better way to break into your field, then to have actual experience creating and organizing programs, presentations and workshops.
What kind of time commitment are we talking about?
STAT will meet once, every two weeks.
