Dear Classmates,

The 45th anniversary celebration of our graduation will be held this fall on the 11th, 12th and 13th of September. The prospect of good weather combined with exciting football against Georgia Tech, and an agenda designed for time to reunite, recreate, see/ learn about Virginia Tech in the 21st century, remember classmates and honor the tragedy of last April will provide a busy and fulfilling weekend.

Reunion headquarters and most activities will be at The Inn at Virginia Tech.  Just completed a couple of years ago, The Inn and Holtzman Alumni Center are located off Price’s Fork Road on what was the campus golf course in 1963.  Activities will begin Thursday evening with a dessert reception—the first chance to test memory and keep a straight face while remarking that ‘you haven’t changed a bit’.  Two options for Friday—golf at The Pete Dye River Course with a clinic by golf coach Jay Hardwick (and possibly British Amateur champ and Virginia Tech golfer Drew Weaver) OR a campus tour that will include the Transportation Institute/Smart Road, Vet School (lots of interesting research), Bioinfomatics Center,  new Athletic Museum and stadium facilities and more.  Lunch will be provided at the golf course and at the nationally acclaimed West End Market.

At 5 pm on Friday we will have a brief Remembrance Service at the Memorial for the tragedy of April 16th.  Dinner, an interesting speaker, and dancing to the music of the 60’s will conclude Friday’s activities.  Saturday will begin with a brunch/pep rally... continue with the football game...and conclude with an after-game reception.

This weekend is also the Corps of Cadets reunion.  The ’63 Corps of Cadets alumni have been invited to lead the Corps’ alumni ‘march-on’ preceding the game(participation requires a hat and shirt - see the registration form).  Corps’ alumni may also wish to attend the Corps dinner on Saturday night.

Lodging in Blacksburg and game tickets are being held for our class but are limited, so register now by mailing in the form or register online. Alternatively, you may reserve your own lodging at the Best Western in Radford by calling 1-800-628-1955 (approximately 20 minutes from Virginia Tech). If you have special needs or would like assistance in locating classmates, please call Jack Hutcheson at the Alumni Association at 540/231-6285. And a few more surprises are planned... I hope to see you in September.
