Dear Chapter Officers,
Our Alumni Association Board of Directors met at the Holtzman Alumni Center in early November. We held a workgroup session focusing on “Building & Sustaining Active Alumni Chapters” and generated valuable input from our Board of Directors about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for alumni chapters and the association. Our board members are dedicated to the mission and vision of the Alumni Association and are looking forward to working with our staff and chapters to achieve our goals. We plan to share some of the ideas with our chapter presidents at our winter training on January 24.
Updates have been made recently to the Chapter Contacts page on our website. Please check to make sure your chapter contact is listed correctly. This information will also appear in the Alumni Association’s Annual Report. Also, please check to see that you are registered on the Chapter Database, If not, please click here and follow the directions to register as an active chapter officer.
If you have not submitted your e-mail request for your bowl watching party, please do so immediately. We will have a limited staff and time slots available throughout the holidays and the university will be closed for several days throughout the season. Click here for the university holiday schedule.
As always, please let us know how we can best support you. Best wishes to you and your families for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Laurie joined the Alumni Association in August 2008. In her new position, as the Director of Multicultural Alumni Programs, her duties include cultivating relationships by engaging alumni and students through outreach, events, activities, reunions, and recruitment with an emphasis on multicultural constituencies. She graduated in 2004 with a BA in Communication from Virginia Tech, with a concentration in public relations and event planning. She continued her family legacy and is the third Virginia Tech graduate in her family. During her four years at Tech, she served in many capacities as resident advisor, president of several student organizations, public relations manager for the Collegiate Times, and was an event planner for UUSA. Upon graduation Laurie joined WDBJ 7, a CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia, as a Production Assistant. She continued working in her field when she joined the Roanoke Times as an Advertising Consultant. Most recently, Laurie worked as a Community Relations Manager for Barnes and Noble in Washington D.C. Laurie loves to spend time with her family and her interests include sports, music, and fashion.
