Chapter Team...

Dear Chapter Officers,

We have just completed another successful fall of reunions, with thousands of alumni returning to Blacksburg to visit with classmates and friends and watch football games. Now that we earned yet another ACC Championship last weekend in Tampa, we are excited that the Hokies will represent the ACC in another BCS bowl.

Congratulations to the Hokie football team who will travel to Miami to play the Cincinnati Bearcats on January 1st in the FedEx Orange Bowl. Those needing air and / or hotel accommodations for the bowl should visit The Guest Planner... The Guest Planner has access to some flight discounts. Their accommodations are in Ft. Lauderdale at the Embassy Suites at a reasonable price. Both 2 and 3 night packages are available. If you won’t be joining the team in Miami, check our website and plan on attending your local chapter’s TV watching party!

If your chapter is planning a holiday party or bowl watching party, please remember to invite your local Alumni Association Board of Directors, legislators and April 16th families. If you need assistance identifying any of these people, contact your chapter liaison.

If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to visit our survey about spring officer teleconferences and let us know what type of topics would be of interest to you and your chapter leaders.

Spring scholarship deadlines are approaching. You should have received your 2008 letter and application to be updated; please make all necessary changes and send to Ginny Ritenour at ginnyrit@vt.edu. Be sure to let Ginny know if you have any questions.

Please note that the Holtzman Alumni Center will be closed for the holidays beginning at noon on December 24, 2008. We will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2009.

I want to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and happy new year.
