Virginia Tech Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship

The Virginia Tech Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship is a competitive award designed to recognize and reward academically talented students who have a proven record of academic excellence and leadership potential.

The scholarship, initiated in the spring of 2010 at the Black Alumni Reunion, is evidence of alumni’s commitment to achieving a diverse and inclusive campus community. Further, the scholarship underscores alums’ unwavering support of the Virginia Tech Principles of Community and our institutional motto—Ut Prosim.

All incoming first-year, full-time freshmen may apply for the Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Students awarded the scholarship will be welcomed into a comprehensive academic and social support community that includes:

  • Structured, well-established academic support and enrichment;
  • Special student orientation;
  • Social and community building-activities; and
  • Faculty and student mentoring.
