Dear ACC Colleagues,
Virginia Tech is excited to host the 2008 ACC Clubs and Reunions Conference in Blacksburg, Virginia. We invite and encourage staff members who work with regional chapters/clubs and reunion and constituency-based programming to join us for this opportunity to share best
practices, challenges, and new initiatives.
A hotel block has been secured at The Inn at Virginia Tech under the above conference name. Rooms are $119/per night plus tax. You can make reservations by calling the hotel directly at 540/231-8000 or toll free at 1-877-200-3360. If traveling by air, you will want to fly into Roanoke Regional Airport and either rent a car or use the Smart Way Bus. Taxi cabs are not recommended for transportation to Blacksburg. The drive from the airport is roughly 30–45 minutes (38 miles), depending on traffic. For directions to Virginia Tech, visit their website online.
We are also very excited to announce an ACC Schools Community Service Project in Roanoke, Virginia on Wednesday night. We found that most of your alumni reside in and around the Roanoke Valley, rather than Blacksburg. In the spirit of Virginia Tech’s motto, Ut Prosim, “That I May Serve” and in an effort to involve all alumni (not just the young ones) we have decided to host this clean up of Roanoke’s Mill Mountain Park. We have developed one ACC e-mail invitation that we will provide for you to send to your alumni in the Roanoke, New River Valley and Franklin County areas.
I would like to begin to gather ideas for our sessions and conversations and begin to identify those who would be the most appropriate to lead them. Please fill out the survey to help us!
Please pass this e-mail along to other colleagues and forward their information, so we can add them to our list. I hope you will consider coming to Virginia Tech this June to share thoughts and ideas! Let me know if you have any questions.
